Ability of LISA to detect a gravitational-wave background of cosmological origin: The cosmic string case

We investigate the ability of Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) to detect a stochastic gravitational-wave background (GWB) produced by cosmic strings, and subsequently estimate string tension $G\mu$ in presence instrument noise, an astrophysical from compact binaries, galactic foreground white dwarf binaries. Fisher Information Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods provide estimates LISA noise parameters for different signal sources. demonstrate simultaneously foreground, as well backgrounds. Considering expected $G \mu \approx 10^{-16}$ $G\mu 10^{-15}$ range or bigger could be measured LISA, with affecting this limit more than background. The parameter estimation presented here can applied other cosmological backgrounds observation band.
